For the very few of you who may associate with these carbs, I was wondering if anyone has a hex bar which is missing from the kit I have. The bar seems to be require to be threaded at both ends to facilitate width ball headed inserts. It measures about 665 mm in length and would require to be 10 mm diameter....
Any help would be appreciated greatly.....

this is the Miko Metals Brass catalogue. We buy all our suppliers from them for the school, they do a range of brass hex profile bars.

I don't know what the hex-bar from a carb kit is made from but if it's not brass, they might stock hex bars in other metals too. They'd have no problem selling you a meter of a particular bar and they're set up for mail order too. Might be worth a shot?

the hex bars are aluminium, I've just had a scout around the shed as i could have swore i had a spare one in there but alas i cannot find it, must have given it away, eurocarb sell the separate hex bars for the idf kits but they are not tapped in the ends as they accept a spring which locates the ball ends of the top plate.

Type in "HEX" in the search function.

check the empi hex bar. drop them a line and see what length it is as it only gives a measurement across the flats of the bar.

Killer question...... Yes the bar was omitted. Try getting anyone to take ownership for this .....hence I feel , in the interests of sanity to try to appeal to any one who may have one to spare and sell it to me . Trouble is , nobody can agree what is required. My original description at the top , is as accurate as I can find.
thanks

I think that i may be able to help. When setting up my 44 Webers, i found that the supplied hex bar was about 10 mm too short, so with the help of Michael, we sourced some hex bar from a model shop from the uk, cut it to the desired length and drilled the ends for the springs. Works perfectly. I have the old one and some blanks as we ordered a few for possable future needs. i need to dig them out and measure up for you. or you can try these guys.

J M .... Does the bar you have match the description of the one I detailed at the top of the post... 665 mm long and 10-12 diameterter ?
if you could have a look for me I would appreciate it.
i also wish to thank all the other contributors , some who don't like these carbs , for also going to great trouble to help.
