Hi guys, bought this wee car as it was just too good too split and scrap which the owner wanted to do. It's a last year of German production 1978 Silver special edition numbered beetle, I think it was a run of 300. Not to be mixed up with any later mexican special edition as these were the last year from the German factory. It has it's original receipt where it shows it was traded in for a 65 beetle, it's original service book and every Mot from new.

Car itself is very solid, needs patches under rear seat, needs patched on panel behind pedals, needs a passenger heater channel bottom and drivers channel repair, ideally replaced but could be repaired. No gutter rot and small quarter panel repair needed.

Best part is no grazed knuckles. Previous guy before he changed his mind had stripped it down to every nut and bolt, track rods separated from ends all gearbox bolts etc. I've loosely reassembled it just to have it rolling but every nut and bolt is there and turns freely. Even the body bolted with no bother apparently.

What's with it?

Rolling chassis/box/beam

Body/doors/ wiring/headliner all lights etc windows

Tax book with only 2 owners, 1 key fits all, an original co down car,All that lovely history and paperwork

Basically The only things missing are the engine and seats/ carpets/ door panels and wings (too far shot) as it had already been sold off. I have the parts to repair too

Much too good a car to split any further wish to sell as a good honest project that seems to have no filler and no previous welding that's hiding anything ( apart from a patch in door post)

Im looking£ 400 which includes the panels to repair body.

Someone save this wee bug as I just don't have the time.

Note; forgot to describe chassis, it needs pans, the guy removed them to put early pans in, but never did.

Nice paperwork with it Shane - I love the original invoice. Very cool.

Cheers Coxy, been getting a few pms too- mostly asking which side is the steering wheel?!

Yes it's original right hand drive.

If interested in the project, there is a channel and proper repair panels to finish the body. This is the best bare body I've had for a while bar Britt's Cali chassis, it looks worse than it is, lots of surface rust but a great wee project.
