Welcome to Eircooled
Our Ethos is simple; We promote, maintain, and encourage the use of classic aircooled vehicles. We run the club in an open, inclusive, and democratic environment. We encourage all members to have an equal say and part to play in the club.
I've owned it since 1999 during which it was my daily driver for about two years.
Its got a reconditioned 1600 T2 which was fitted around 2004. At the time it was fitted with new heat exchangers, exhaust - pulls very strongly, loads of low down grunt!
It's got Porsche pattern discs up front with standard drums at the rear. New calipers, bearings etc were fitted at the time of the conversion.
CB Performance dropped spindles at the front, lowerd by one (two?) splines at the rear.
The body is in good overall condition. The rear passenger quarter panel needs attention as does a patch under the rear seat but stucturally its very sound.
There's a bit of surface rust on the edges of the bonnet, but again nothing serious.
It hasn't seen road with about two years - its dry stored in Cork and is covered in a fine layer of dust at the moment.
The clutch was starting to slip before I stopped using it frequently so that would probably need to be replaced.
The most recent photo I have of it is this one...
I will try an dig out a few more photos but in the meantime these show the car when it was wearing 17" Cups, which aren't with the car
Clear Vision Euro Look headlights - IIRC I got them from Machine 7. They're still boxed on a shelf in Cork if you're interested? I was keeping them to see if they could be adapted for the Ghia but seeing as how that's going as well...
Still available (see post in other thread in the Lounge).
There's a rear view pic near the end of this thread - pic Coxy took a few weeks back. The dent to the rear apron occurred when the car slipped on the car transporter from Cork to Galway about two months ago.
I can take a few more pics tomorrow when it's daylight.
