I'm just throwing this out there to see what people think of the idea.

DKP have done this for many years in California as have lots of other VW and non VW clubs around the world and VW Heritage do a Santa run every December so why not Eircooled?

For the last few years I have been thinking Eircooled should do one ourselves but unfortunately I only tend to remember in late November or early December which is obviously way too late.

This is only an idea so feel free to chime in with ideas and suggestions or if it's a non runner let me know so we are not wasting our time.

I am proposing that we do our own Santa Run on the first Sunday in December. Maybe we as a club could meet up on the outskirts of Dublin and drive in convoy, VWs adorned with Xmas decorations, through the capital to Laura Lynn or Crumlin Childrens Hospital or another suitable charity/hospital. Each car in the convoy must bring at least one new and unwrapped childrens present or we could have a charge per car to do the Xmas run so at the end of it we can give the monies raised directly to the charity/hospital and they can distribute as they wish????
We could also finish our run at the front of Dundrum Town Centre and if they'd allow us to have some buckets we could get a few quid there and hand the toys and/or cash over to the nominated charity/hospital there instead?

All ideas so as I say feel free to shout......

For the €€?? entry fee every car could get a commemorative sticker or bumper hanger like this........

Here's a few snaps from the DKP event this Christmas

What say ye? Yay or nay? It may not even happen but no harm in throwing it out there eh?

I spoke with Laura Lynn to see what they thought and they love the idea but would prefer a cash donation as opposed to gifts as many of the kids have specific medical requirements and as such they cannot have certain toys.

Then it is only a question of when and how much..But we have all year to fight over that and we could have a new government by then and god only knows what that could mean....

I think it's something that could be developed into something good.i know that there's a toy run done by the scooter and motorcycle clubs in aid of the woman's shelter in Dublin and it gets good support.i do think that we should try to do something but I think parking a lot of cars in a shopping centre so close to Christmas might be a bit of an ask but I'm sure we can come up with a plan over the coming months.

Trying to park at Dundrum could be a nightmare. It could take nearly an hour to even get to the centre. I know the suggestion at the AGM was to make Barretstown the nominated charity so would it be better to maybe go there. Another suggestion is Phil and Ann who have a green bay and matching trailer and the beetle which looks like its all rust. Well Phil is the CEO of Tiglinn and is always looking at ways to raise money for Tiglinn. Im not sure if he is an eircooled member but it might be nice to do something for someone in the VW scene who has a charity. He does alot of good work and is now setting up a place for women and children.
