my brother and 3 of his mates have just come back today from doing the london to mongolia charity rally .10000 miles of bad roads deasert and mountain ranges . they did it in a renault kangoo 4x4 trekker for the christina nobel childrens foundation now thats a challenge .

Brother of a friend did this too, both of them from Mullaghmore, did it in a 15 year old Subaru

Yep, three of them started from Sligo in a Subaru Legacy and two of them finished the rally only about two weeks ago - the thrid guy wasn't allowed through a Russian passport checkpoint

I saw the convoy pass me on the canal this morning when I was coming into work. Some seriously nice cars there!

Yesterday I wanted to see all these nice cars when they were intended to pass through my area. According to the route map as I had figured out they were on the N3 via Cavan to Enniskillen and then on the N16 via Belcoo and Manorhamilton. So I took the beetle and drove to a nice spot between Belcoo and Glenfarne and waited from 11 to 13 o'clock. Bollocks! No Cannonball Run!
Wasted time, missed experience. Today I heard a guy telling that another guy excused his late appearance because of traffic jams in Carrick-on-Shannon caused by the Cannonball Run. So they obviously took the N4 to Sligo. But that is not the route which can still be seen on their website. I am somehow upset.

Arrived back to Galway yesterday afternoon after this, had an absolute blast, about 1300 miles in four days, will post a bit more with pics in a bit, still absolutely wrecked after the weekend...
