[h=5]Wow! What a weekend. I know it is said every year, but this was undoubtedly the best Camp weekend so far! An amazing time was had by all and the never ending rain didn't dampen anybody's spirits. As usual, Mike and Ann O'Neill were so generous in giving us their time and giving up their Railway Tavern to us VW nuts for the weekend. They were presented with a plaque and cake to commemorate 10 years of a must-do weekend, and deservedly so. So much of their time is given to us each Camp weekend, whether it be Mike leading us on our road trip like a Mother Hen, or Ann holding the fort back at the pub - two of the nicest, warmest and generous people, you could ever hope to meet.
What a line-up we had! In total, we had 50 VW vans, including Gerry's Caddy Camper/Apartment and 2 Beetles. We had the whole range of VW vans from Splits to Bays to T25s to T4s and
Brian Lacey's lovely award winning T5 camper. This weekend is not by invitation, but by your interest in a VW, whatever it is and whatever decade it is from (50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, 00s and right up to the latest T5s) and is open to ANY club from anywhere.
Special thanks to the lovely Knightly family, for once again welcoming us all to their home, and John for letting us all see his rusty wonderland. Mr. and Mrs. Knightly welcome us to their home every year, and there's always "A cup of tea in the house for you", along with the endless supply of sambos and biccies. Mr. Knightly is always on hand to tell us fascinating stories of his time driving many VWs and he knows the history of every vehicle at his home.
We all met with old friends and made a good few new ones, and hopefully we'll all meet again soon, whether we pass each other on the road or definitely in Camp 2014. Only 362 days to go folks!!!
I've added in photos from the weekend, most taken by my son Ben, who showed his skills with a liathróid on Inch strand, and also drove Albert up onto the chocks for Saturday night! I hope you like the photos. Click on the link below to see the photos.[/h]
