I know most of these can be bought in the parts suppliers but I thought I'd see if I could turn up anything amongst the VW community first :)

I need the following: (all for late model 1976 beetle BTW)

  • 1x 2-pin ATE brake caliper (late beetle)
  • 2x brake flexi hoses for disk brakes
  • LHS interior sun visor in white
  • shift rod coupler
  • shift rod bush
  • pair wiper blades
  • LHS stock door mirrors
  • windscreen rubber with groove for trim
  • ignition switch "Plug" type
  • ignition barrel & key (actually the entire 2-lever steering column head would save me a lot of hassle)
  • clip-on bonnet seal
  • stock style black plastic dash pad
  • 2x inner door handles
  • fuel filler cap (preferably locking)
  • engine bay rubber seal
  • rear seat cross bar (the bar that goes from one door pillar to the other, supporting the rear seat)
  • 1x set of front wheel bearings
  • 1x front wheel bearing grease seal
  • pair of caster shims for lowered front beam
  • 1x LHS stock spindle for disk brakes, ball joint
list amended again 25-9-08 :)

yeah, I got ONE brand new disk brake assembly in a job lot of parts I picked up a while back, new from spindle to dust cap. I often wondered what happened its twin that only one was included amongst the job lot :blink:

so now I need the other :)

Try OTTO, I was in there today for parts for the Golf and they only had one rear shock and one headlamp in stock. :D

Spark plugs come in boxes of ten. :ROFLMAO:

thanks cartonJ, I'm picking up a scrap early '70s bug tomorrow which should yield most of the stock parts I need. If they're missing or are fecked I'll get back to you.

Incidentally, I pulled the padded dash off the bug to see what the metal/paint was like underneath, it's in pretty good shape and should polish up nicely so I might be able to run without a dash pad.

thanks again, I'll let you know if I need the parts :)

looks like it but I'll have to wait til I see it to know if they're 2 point or 3 point seats. I suspect it's a '73 vintage so should have 3 point.

have you got any plans for the seats?the only thing i dont like about the notch is the highback seats

I don't think they'll fit, the notch has really wide seat rails. Unless you were planning a custom sub-frame?

I've heard of high-backs being cut down to make low-backs. Peel the covers off and see if the tall bits can be cut off neatly and then do a neat-ish job trimming down the upholstery maybe??

Justin, nice one. I'll post you a cheque or would you prefer paypal? Thanks a million :)
