Thanks Paul, No worries, I got brake cylinders from John White a while back and it turned out she may already have an early bay beam fitted....We thought so at the time anyway !!

I fancy disc brakes on the front of her...The drums are under pressure under load....grand if you are in on your own bombing along...but 4up or 6up you need to see into the future to get her stopped....lol...

Would a remote servo help? I think it would be easy enough to plumb one in. Not sure what car you could pinch one from (my BMW has two), but might be worth investigating before a trip to the scrappy.

If anyone has any suggestions on a "budget" disc conversion for the front. I would be very interested to hear them....

Howdy Paul,

If you do have an early bay beam fitted it will have ball joints, I've just converted one of my Splits to front disc using late bay spindles, calipers etc, it's an easy swap but it does mean you lose your wide fives unless you use an adapter or summat........... however the improvement in the brakes was well worth it and it is after all a working bus so needs to be able to stop. I'd already IRS'd it using late bay parts so it was just a drum swap at the back. If you're not too precious about running wide fives I'd thoroughly recommend it......!!

Thanks Guys for the input, yes she does have ball joints......i shall have to do some reading on the differences between the beams and then gather up a few bits and pieces......
