Private northern or uk plate? Cartell would pick that up if it was assigned to the car? If it is a private UK plate it's worth a fortune...

says first reg'd county meath

If the plate was exported on a car to the UK before 1990 it could have been left and registered on the car. It might then have been sold on at a later stage, before ending up on the Golf. Roman Abramovich has an auld Kilkenny reg on one of his cars...

Saw this AI reg at the weekend. Much nicer than a golf.

'51 Aston Martin DB2. One of 5 factory built racers from that year. Got a good race history from here in Ireland. First owners in Drogheda in 1951.

If I am correct beforer 1987 you were allowed to move a registration to a different vehicle if you could proof the one carrying the registration to have been scrapped. Now, the registration cannot move ever of the Golf I believe. Making it a 300k+ Golf without NCT and an interesting plate; but worth €10,000???

Not all living in Ireland. A few over from the UK, but most were irish. Not a big get together - about 30 cars in total. It was really nice to see some different stuff - Wolseley, Morgan, Lagonda, Vauxhall, Bentley, Rolls Royce, Chrysler, Austin, MG, Alfa Romeo, Frazer Nash, Jaguar, Lancia, Borgward & one or two others. They weren't taking it easy either - kind of scary watching a 2tonne green Bentley truck horsing down the road at 120+kph...

Apart from the E-Type, these were my favourites. The Frazer Nash & Alfa were gorgeous. Baby Austin couple were priceless.
