It's time to thin out the fleet and let someone else enjoy this rare Beetle. It's a 1966 Ex-Swedish Embassy Beetle and comes with its original 1300cc engine. It has some really cool accessories such as the factory fitted steering lock which has its original Huf key still with it. It also comes with the Swedish spec cloth upholstery and a Philips radio. What drew me to the Beetle was the CD badge on the front which is now a very collectible piece in its own right.
This Beetle left the factory in the very desirable Java Green colour - it has had one respray in the original Java Green while the interior remains in its original paint.
The car was registered in Carlow in 1970 when it was brought into Ireland by its Swedish owners. They had diplomatic privileges hence the CD badge.

The original 1300cc engine is running really well and is a strong motor. The NOS rear valance that came with the car has been welded in by Eamon & Padraic in CustomVolkz. The boys also installed new brake lines but the brakes would need to be addressed before you could hit the road.........unless you're a total thrill seeker of course!

This Beetle is a project car but it's a seriously unique and cool car so stands way above the rest. If the brakes were sorted you could drive it as is. There is rust as you would expect but nothing that should frighten you. As I say, this could be driven as is but I would ask that if you are seriously interested to come and have a look for yourself and see if this is the one for you. If you're keen to build up an interesting collection, then this Ex-Swedish Embassy Beetle is just what you need.

  • Ex-Swedish Embassy Beetle
  • Original CD (Corps Diplomatique) badge with the car
  • 1970 Carlow registration
  • Original number plates
  • Original brown taxbook
  • Unique history
  • 1300cc engine - running brilliantly
  • Java Green - one repaint on the outside, original paint on the inside
  • 5x original 1966 wide 5 rims
  • Philips radio
  • Original Swedish number plate mount above the bumper
  • Factory fitted steering lock including the original Huf key
  • Swedish spec cloth upholstery
  • 2x original keys
  • Original factory chalk manufacturers markings under the bonnet
  • Locking engine lid

Irish registered 6v Beetles are getting very hard to find, especially untouched examples like this Beetle. Add to that, that the car carries a very unique history and I think you'll find it really is a one of a kind car both in the general classic car world and of course within our own VW scene.

I will be offering it here first and then I will advertise it on VZi & The Samba.

I'm only looking for €2,900 for this unique car. I'm not looking for trades as I need to make some space. Drop me a PM if you want to arrange a viewing. The Beetle is in CustomVolkz in Kilkenny at the moment but I hope to collect it this weekend and bring it back to Templemore.
