I'm looking for a 1303 body to make a race car. I allready have the chassis, but will consider anything. Needs to be ok with not to much bodywork needed> But hey whatever will consider.
Let me know if you have one sitting at the back of your shed!
Thanks.

Well, strictly speaking, its a mate of mines project, but i am giving him a hand. He plans to race it at Mondello! He has a body, but it is really rough and have calculated about 300 hours work in it at least. Every panel needs to be looked at. We have all the doors, boot lid, bonnet and fenders, Just now need to find the bare shell.

I don't have (another ;) ) body either but I'm interested in how perfect is he going to make it? It would be a shame to have a concourse body and then some twit in a Capri slams into it and smashes it to bits. I understand he'll want it to be solid but at what point in the restoration do you say "stop" when the car you're restoring is for the racetrack?

People race cars that are a hell of alot rarer and valuable than a 1303! I'd say go for it! What are the rules for historics in Ireland, I know its pre and post 54 or 55 but where in the 70's does the age limit come in?

Not sure about the rules as my mate would be more in to that kind stuff. I'm more into building and bodywork. I know that a 1303 aint the rarest, but its the best for this particular application. It is probable that it will get a few knocks, thats why i dont want to spend the time now on too much welding, as there will be plenty of that later!
I'm sure i could pick up a good body in the UK, but kinda would be cool to have one from Ireland. Does anyone know of grave Yard fiels full of VW'S? I have heard a few stories of places, like Fermoy, where there were some years ago.

havent got a shell but seen that you have really bad one would you have any intrest in sell in it and the story you herd about a bunch of bugs in fermoy wouldnt have been a small town out side it called conna and im makeing a racecar out of a 1978 mini the only rule for historical is that it has to be befor 1986 and have the right engeing if it dont you would be raceing the normal cars

Does he sell them as is? When he was based off Dorset St he had a warehouse full of them but he didn't sell them unless he'd done them up first.

Anyone care to translate? Dillon, what are you on about? A bit of punctuation wouldn't go amiss from time to time.

Dillion use google chrome, I think it has spell check on everything you write

I'd say he would, not sure. The story I heard was when someone wants
a car done he goes and gets a bug from the field and does it up.
Give him a bell sure
