I didn't think the width would be as important as the height pj, as long as it fits the rims??? open to contradiction. what width are the beetle tyres

Would the Beetle tyres be the correct width for the Golf though? They seem narrower, although I didn't check.

they'd be slightly narrower than the golf tyres alright but I wouldn't worry about that, so long as you remember they're narrower when you come onto tarmac. Mind you, with the roads frozen you're unlikely to be pushing it anyway.

It really seems the simplest solution, you'd pick up a set of steels for small money, easier and cheaper than changing your car for a pseudo off-roader

i have rims that will suit your golf you could try the snow tyres and see how they fit onto the rim. or buy snow tyres to suit the rims george dalton is selling snow tyres near me he has a audi quattro with snow tyres and they work brilliant seen him towing a transit up a hill during the snow. his car drive perfectly in the snow. id try hold onto the golf like the lads say its more practical for you and could work better than any zuki with proper tyres

We had between 4 and 6 inches last week. Its grand on level ground but the hill can be a problem. A few cars couldn't get up last week.... the only way is to get a run at it.

I have ordered them auto sock things, but the size for my car is not currently in stock, so I'll have to see will I have them for the snow or not (if it comes).

Suzukis are actually really good off road, far better than most Jap 4x4s!! One of the best infact, because theyre light!!!

Snow is all down to the driver IMO, some cars are better than other but a front wheel drive golf diesel with do nicely on the right tyres!!! Skinny tyres are what you need too, wide modern tyres are crap in snow, I pulled the alloys off the front of the van, put on the steels with the std skinny commercial tyres and im flying up every snow covered hill!!!

Best thing of all is some Piece of sh... you dont care about then your not worried if it hits a ditch or something, my Dad and a few of my mates have taken to Bangernomics during the snowey period!
