thanks again ... I don't know how I missed that 1600 on done deal !!
Is a 1600 strong enough to pull the 78 camper ??

You probably have an 091 Six rib 'box in your Bay, so no, a 1600 would not be ideal, you would really need the 2ltr to make good use of the higher ratio 'box...........

Also, if your thinking of buying a replacement or having your old engine properly sorted, take the advice of forum members as to who they'd recommend, buying an engine off of DD, no matter how well it sounds could just be a whole mess of trouble you don't need............

welcome to the site tom,a bit more info might help.
what state is your engine as in what are the condition of your carbs, dizzy, altinator, exhaust, tin wear etc in or are you looking for a compleete turn key engine to just bolt straight in.i have a 2ltr type 4 cu engine but not sure if it would fit without modification.i think it would fit if you use your tin wear and heat exchangers but i could be wrong.
if i was you,and belive me ive wasted a small fortune chasing me tail.if you can afford it i would rebuild your own engine.it might seem expensive but will end up cheaper in the long run than buying someone elses problems then again it might not be as bad as you think.good engines tend to be still in the vans they came in. you will also have the reliablity factor and wont be a bag of nerves when you go on your holliers.

Thanks for the wise words lads ... I'm on a learning curve ( queen bee and 2 sons included ) ... Hoagy106 into YouTube will show what I bought ... Flipping a coin whether its the engine or exterior first to do.. Wise words about reliability on holidays ...
Thanks
