My dad is looking for an ignition switch and key to suit a 71 bay. Anyone got one going spare?

Hey Barry, how are things, what have you been up to?

I think I might have one somewhere, I'll have a root tomorrow.

Howya Justin long time since I've been on here. I'm still in London, still dicking about with vws. How's the sixer?

trying to help my dad get a key start on his bus, it's got a poxy push button starter under the seat at the moment, looks factory but I've never heard of this set up. The usual specialists (read cowboys) over there don't know anything about his set up either.

My memory is a bit fuzzy, but when mine arrived the ignition was ripped apart when the shippers wanted to start it. I think I took the whole lot apart and sorted it, but also picked up a new barrel and key along the way. They can be tricky, but there's good info on earlybay.com.

Oh, and I think the switch and lock/barrel are two separate parts, so he may just need a switch.

The ignition only goes 2 clicks, doesn't have the third sprung start feature, it's not broken either it's a weird one. My dad says his owners manual shows the push button under driver seat.
I can only guess it was some sort of safety feature that a child couldn't accidently start it up and drive away :)

I'm not sure what needs replacing to make it work as normal, I'm home in August I'll be looking at swapping it then.

Got my dad to send pic of his manual showing the push button start, it's actually a heater button LOL

I've told him to get a new ignition switch from just Kampers.
