Engine in my T25 is fecked. I'm gonna go diesel. If anyone in the south has or knows of a cheap (reliable) 1.9 or 1.9TD engine I'd be interested in it.
I'm sick of not getting above 50mph and praying I'll make it home each time I leave. The same engine currently in the van was awesome in my beetle and never let me down but I'm making bits of it in something twice the weight. Want to rebuild it and put it back in my bug.
On a tight deadline here so keep your eyes open please.

it's an aircooled engine in at the moment, right?
Was your bus originally a watercooled bus? Do you have any of the original engine parts if it was? If it wasn't originally watercooled you won't have any of the cooling pipes, rad, not even the grille in the nose. If you're going to put a diesel engine in you'll need a pile of original 1.6D parts too, like the sump, oil pickup, gearbox bellhousing, starter etc etc etc. Not the kind of job you want to take on if you're against a deadline.

saying that, I have a 1.9D (1Y code) from a Vento that would be ideal if you already have all the necessary 1.6D type25-specific stuff as the sump and oil pickup on it at the moment are from a Skoda Felicia. Let me know if it will suit you and I'll dream up an appropriate price ;)

just found this:

it would appear yours is/was always an aircooled bus (no grille). You have a big enough job in front of you. If you could lay your hands on a manky rusty diesel type25 cheap as a donor for all the bits you need it would be the most straightforward solution. Then add the 1.9D or TD into the mix. Still, not a "deadline" job I'd imagine...

Thanks Trev. I've been discussing this with Donal Dollery and Podsy while away at the Woodstown meet this weekend. I already have a T25 doner van sourced for the bits I'm missing. Might be interested in the 1Y engine. I'll contact you tonight when I get back from work.
Thanks
