yeah but add up 18 years of road tax before it becomes a classic (almost €8500 at todays rates) and the good soon goes out of it

Yup agree - plus it has a computer and all the modern sensor rubbish and noone in Ireland has the computer software to sort it out.

Maybe someone could have done a resto on it and made it more of a 70's bug !

Still a great car for the price though if you want some of the trappings of a modern car whilst still looking/sounding cool.

I'd have had it for that price. Still though, I'd prefer the carb rather than fuel injection. Im not a man for all this electrickery in modern cars. IMHO it all went downhill after around 1994. You cant even service a modern car yourself nowadays. If it was a choice between that beetle for 2k or a 70s beetle for the same price in the same condition, I'd have the 70s one. Still though, nice car, and the right price.
