I know you'd only get to use it three days a year but how cool would that be raked over some big'n'littles ;)

I spent 6 weeks overhauling one of them in Norway many years ago in a former life. Old school overhauling at that with complete engine build, rebuilding bearings and reconditioning the tracks (bitch of a job).

If I have the space I would love to have a go as most parts can easily be manufactured.

RTE had one up in Mullaghanish transmitter station. Remember seeing it regularly years ago. Used to be serviced locally in Eugene McCarthys garage in Ballyvourney. (Kvinyl might remember it too) There was one used in The Shining at the end of the movie when Olive Oyl made her escape.
I have a matchbox one somewhere in my parents house, although, condition is nowhere as good as this one!

Yep, I remember that one well. I worked in McCarthy's for four years during secondary school and I used to climb all over it whenever it was in. Thought it was the coolest thing although I never actually saw it move - it always seemed to come and go when I was in school. McCarthy's was great, always loads of interesting bits and pieces around the place, mainly Datsun bits though...:D
