Wrong, wrong, wrong :D

Four stud wheels and a Ford engine? Wrong, wrong, wrong :D

It actually doesn't look too bad but the minute you'd turn the ignition key you'd have to put a paper bag over your head...

Ah yeah, underneath it's a joke, but externally it's not so bad. I've seen some proper shonky lookin beetle porsche kit cars. But for a little extra cash you'd get the real deal, so why bother I spose.

Mark.

Project cars like that (ebay Covin) make me sad, you know just by looking at it that it will get passed on to somebody with the best intentions of doing something with it only to give up when they realise just what a massive task lies ahead, and even when finished it'll still be a bit shite.

Then it gets listed on ebay and the cycle begins again.

I'd be tempted to buy it just to cube it, I know I'd sleep better.

I could say the same about 90% of the beetles in this club! :ROFLMAO:

Covin in their day made one of the best replica bodys around! I had one in the garage last year for a bit and a few times I took it out even Porsche nerds had to look twice and then ask if it was real or not!

I don't agree with the Ford power plant. The beetle engine is closer to the Porsche sound and with the right alterations to the exhaust can sound just perfect.

Nothing wrong with Covins, I have seen (pics of) some really top quality examples that would fool all but the geekiest of Porsche fans... it's just that ebay one in particular I have a problem with.

By the time all the money & effort is added up, you'd have a genuine one bought. Kinda defeats the purpose.
The VZI one looks well sorted and reasonably priced, but it's still not a porsche! Whether anyone cops it or not, I'd feel like a fraud. I'd rather save up and get the real thing.
IMO replicas rarely work. (Chesil speedster and ford engined cobras are the exception!)
