the 1Z is probably going to be the most interesting part of this lot but I'm going to offer the lot here same as I did on the watercooled forums. My overpaid project manager (duts) is going to love that I'm getting rid of this. Discounts available to Eircooled folk :)

I've decided I have too many projects so I'm going to sell up one that hasn't really started yet, I'm at the parts collection stage.

It's based around an 83 mk1 Golf GX 5-door in silver. Originally a 1.6 petrol engined car, the old engine is long gone. The shell is very straight with no accident damage. There are a couple of rot spots present but they are inside, where a solid but rough-n-ready repair wouldn't be spotted as it would be under carpet. If that's the way you roll ;) No front doors included but the two rear ones are. Unfortunately, the tailgate is rotten. No wings with the shell but both black plastic bumpers are present and in good shape. Headlamps and bonnet still fitted but no grille, tail lamps or loom. No glass either but the deluxe chrome window trims are there as are the chrome side trims and one chrome sill trim. It's pretty much a bare, rolling shell with a few extra bits. It appears to have lowering springs fitted but I don't know how low. They're red.
The 83-C-XXXX plate is with the car but no log book (would need to be applied for). It's rolling on steel wheels with inflatable tyres. 13" mk1 GTI tarantulas could be sold with it for a little extra.

I have a 1Z TDI engine and matching CTN cable-change gearbox from a '96 B4 Passat with 198k miles, it drove into the garage to be stripped. I also have the complete labelled loom (headlamp to tail lamp including clocks) and ECU from the Passat. Everything down as far as the key and code reader for the ECU. Of course it could be de-immobilised to remove the need for the key, code reader etc. Podsy's yer man for that craic.

As far as fitting it to the Golf, I have the (hard to find) mk1 cabrio/mk2 scirocco 100mm drive shafts to go with it, these enable a "plug'n'play fitment of the cable shift box as far as drives are concerned. Cable shifter assembly is with the engine/box too.

The pedal box from the Passat is also included, including the fly-by-wire throttle pedal and hydraulic clutch. I have a good whack of the bulkhead from the Passat cut out so that could be welded into the mk1 to allow fitment of the Passat direct-action servo and hydraulic clutch master cylinder.

If there's not enough interest in the project as a whole, I'll be parting it out and selling the shell, engine, box, pedals, shifter, drive shafts etc separately but TBH, I'd like to see it go as a whole.

So the dirty business: I'd like €800 for the project as a whole. I'm losing money at that "bundle price".

if I have to break it, I'd like €300 for the rolling shell, €400 for the engine plus loom/ecu etc, €150 for the box plus shift mechanism, €80 for the drive shafts, €80 for the pedal box with master cylinders/servo/fly-by-wire throttle.

PM me here if you're up for it. Obviously I want to give it a few days to see if it'll sell as a whole but if you want to register your interest in the parts, please do but you'll be waiting a couple of days to confirm.

Sorry trev , stupid question but you said no front doors right ?....its just that they are in the pics......and no glass?

Is the remainder of the interior present? door cards etc, window regulators, locks, handles

Just read your post properly, these are all missing right ?

there are doors on the shell but the front right is mint except for the rot if you know what I mean and the front left I was going to keep for the red car to replace the rusty one on there. There are no windows with the shell bar a cracked windscreen. There are seats with the shell but again, I was going to keep them for the red one. So if it's not listed, it's not included. The shell is also doubling as shite storage at the moment so the photos don't reflect what's included but the text does.

as far as window regs, locks, handles door cards etc go, they were stripped from the car when I got it, along with the headliner, wiring loom, carpets, dash, everything. It's just a very bare rolling shell with a few extra bits still attached.

you're right, you'd really need another rotten but complete Golf beside it to make one out of the two. Pretty much what I was at but I've copped on since, hence this ad :ROFLMAO:

I have a bid for the roof off it but I'm hoping it won't come to that! Mind you, with the roof sold off it, it's getting dangerously close to its value as scrap metal. If there are no buyers for it as a whole I could go down that route which would be a crying shame...

anyway, the bonnet has now sold. Shell as listed above but minus the bonnet: €250 ono :)

IMO it'd be a shame to have this roof come off this; its such a clean shell; plus its so cheap at 250- inner wings, door pillars, A pillars, scuttle etc etc are all the usual rot points on any mk1 and all that looks good on this 4door...

Ive 2 front wings , a (repairable) front passenger door, both front doors glass including 1/4 lights and a load of other mk1 bits (I have a daily driven mk1 caddy n mk1 4door bits are 'common' to the caddy's- B pillar forward) if anyone is considering taking it on as a project...

Ive no room for this myself otherwise it'd be home by now...Id say the 'nordy' watercooled boys would snap this up quick as shells as clean as this, at this money, are 'hard got' up there....
