Hi all.
Just on the offchance, I wanted to throw this out to everyone. I would consider swapping my ghia for a T3 / T25 camper that I could use as a daily driver.
I'm looking for the 1.6td model, preferably one of the Atlantic or California models.
I have a 72 karmann ghia coupe .....I've had it for a couple of years.
I drive it to and from work every day and she is a rust-free import from dry Arizona.
She is very original and has had zero need for any kind of rust repairs whatsoever since she was made.
I resprayed her last summer with 2k paint (original VW colour Adriatic blue) and while the old paintwork was being stripped back, it was obvious that the car had never had any repairs done....no filler anywhere.
Since I've bought her, I've fitted a new headliner and generally spruced her up with all new rubber parts, windscreen seals, door seals, new door hinges etc etc. Fitted a new Blaupunkt cd player / speakers. New cv joints, new distributor, coil, battery, voltage regulator, dynamo brushes and many other bits. Fitted an electric motor and button for the windscreen squirter. It has a heated front windscreen (I got it specially made) so it won't steam up ever. I have a new heated rear screen that I didn't get round to fitting. I also have an eberspacher heater for it with all the ghia ducting...haven't fitted it yet.
In all, now a very reliable car.
