For sale: 1Y code 1.9 diesel engine (non-turbo) from a mk3 Golf.

120k miles, timing belt replaced zero miles ago so ready for another 60k before it needs to be replaced again.

the engine came from a known, well-maintained local car (local to my dad). I've got a 1Y in my daily passat and it's plenty good for everyday use. It returns 45MPG consistently. I've got a 1Y in my bay and while it's yet to be proven, I expect it to work well and give good economy too.

With a mechanical injector pump and no electronics to worry about, it would be an ideal swap/upgrade for a 1.6D T3/type25.

€430ono, ready to collect from Stradbally, Co Laois or I'll help with delivery if it's convenient. If there isn't too much haggling I'll throw in a gallon of Maxol 10W40 semi-synthetic oil too (value approx €30). No point in changing the oil in it yet if the sump is to be swapped to a type25 diesel version.

it's out of the mk3 about 12 months but went straight into and was residing in my cousin's mk2 that never ran, he went to Australia and abandoned the project. It's out of the mk2 about a month and now in my garage for a week of that. For the few weeks it was out and on the ground, the inlet was plugged to prevent moisture getting in.

Nice deal Trev - would have been an ideal conversion for my old golf.

ah it would have been a good bit of work to fit it into a 1.4 petrol mk3. Plus you'd need to get a pile of other parts like gearbox, bigger radiator etc.

Incidentally, on the offchance anyone is thinking of putting this into a Golf/Vento/Jetta etc I have the correct gearbox plus radiator plus more to suit.
